Splix Privacy Policy

Protecting your private information is our priority. This Statement of Privacy applies to http://splix.org and Splix LLC and governs data collection and usage. For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, unless otherwise noted, all references to Splix LLC include http://splix.org and Splix. The Splix website is a Media Service site. By using the Splix website, you consent to the data practices described in this statement. This policy is effective as of November 19, 2011.

Collection of your Personal Information

This privacy policy was initially generated by a legal service. To be honest, it was a lot of legalese that didn't really get to the point; so let's cut to the chase. Here's what we collect:

your Google^* account number, the email address you use to login to the Google service, and your YouTube^* account name (this only applies in the event that you register with Splix).
information provided to the Splix website by your browser. This includes the IP address from which you connected, browser identification tags, cookies that may have been set previously by Splix, and pages that you load.
any information that Google may retain due to your use of the Google Analytic's service. Their policy can be found here.

Use of your Personal Information

Again, this is shy on legalese but cuts to the heart of things. Splix uses the personal information identified above to:

identify you when you login (applies only to registered users).
anonymously analyze what parts of our service are used most and what external sites generate the most traffic to Splix.
other site usage statistics as provided by Google analytics.

We never share your information with anyone else (aside from what might be covered by the Google Analytics privacy policy referenced previously) and we don't use your personal information to contact you unless you explicitly request us to do so. If we add features in the future that may affect this statement, we will always make them "opt-in" rather than "opt-out"; in other words, you will have to go out of your way to activate those features rather than the features being activated by us and requiring you to ferret them out and deactivate them.
